A single example of a River God comes from Great Chesterford, Essex (101). The mature, bearded figure is shown reclining on a couch with his head supported in his left hand and his lower body draped. It is similar to a stone statue from Chesters, Northumberland. Toynbee (1962, 138 pl. 36) notes that the lack of a trident and the presence of a mask indicates that this is a River God and not Neptune.
