Description: The large and somewhat staring eyes (once inlaid), the parted lips and furrowed brow, the mop of tumbling curls, and the heavy, massive beard all combine to lend to the head an intense and slightly florid look more suggestive of Gaulish than of Italian workmanship (Toynbee).
