Description | Dancing youth, right leg forward, knees bent, heels raised; right arm raised holding torch (break at hand); left arm forward with patera; short tunic and overfold; skirt flies backwards; ribbons at feet and ankles; curls and frontal peak (Pitts p67). Quite a detailed piece but slightly odd execution with the skirt flying back in a flat, winged fashion and a very flat back. Head at rear rounded and framed by flat, featureless hair which at the front forms a band of curls around the face. Finger depicted but not toes. Figure standing on tiptoes, feet hooflike. Quite thick and heavy folds of drapery. Face fairly well depicted. Small shoulders. |
