Description | Seated sphinx with chain attached to left leg. She sits with her weight on her left haunch with leg tucked under. Chest out and looking upwards slightly with head tilted to the right. Some attention has been given to the depiction of the paws. The face is worn so the features are only just visible. The feathers on the wings are depicted in broad strokes to the rear with shorter ones closer to the body and a scalloped lower edge. The chair is of doubled over links (the links were first cinched in the middle to form a figure of eight. See also Kiely. |
