Description | Helmet with large double crest. Stands leaning slightly to the left. Left leg slightly bent at knee and splayed to the left. Small foot, toes depicted. Right arm raised, hand clasped around missing spear or sword. Left arm at side, mitten hand, probably held a shield. Clothing quite detailed. Bushy beard forms a collar around the neck, moustache, face rather flat. Nicely detailed piece but the execution (face, small foot, mitten hand) betray the provincial origin. Proportions not quite right. |
