Description | Original not seen, only replica in Bristol City Museum (BRSMG F4260).The lowered left hand once grasped the rim of the now vanished shield; but the raised right hand held a spear, not, as usual, vertically, but horizontally, In the attittude of an Athene Promachos (Toynbee p81) Moulded drapery falls fairly regularly, left knee presses against gown. Scalloped aegis. Pointed toes peep out from beneath gown. Fingers shown. Facial features average with small mouth, slightly wedge nose. |
