Description | Manning - Bronze bust on a broken shaft; in poor condition. The bust depicts an elderly bearded figure, perhaps Mars, apparently wearing a helmet an breastplate, with shoulder pieces. The head is inclined slightly to one side and the arms consist of rounded knobs. The modelling of the rear of the bust is sketchy. The shaft , of rectangular cross-section, tapers. It is plain save for a phallus part way down its length. |
