Description | The cockerel is shown standing with the right leg slightly forward. The body is moulded with the two wings against the bird.s body and with a long, arched tail. The object is worn, so there is very little detail of individual feathers remaining. The bird.s head is similarly worn and is now missing its beak. No facial features are discernible. The cockerel.s feet are moulded together with worn stumpy feet with no attempt at realistic claws. Originally the cockerel would have stood on a small square base, but nothing of this remains. All break edges are worn smooth, suggesting damage occurred in antiquity (PAS). |
