Description | He stands upright and is naked apart from a Corinthian style helmet which has a crest running down the centre. The helmet is pushed back on the top of the head above the hair line. The figurine is very heavily corroded and all detail of the facial features. The lower half of all the limbs is now missing. It is impossible to say how crudely the figure was cast. The remains of the right arm is raised in a manner to suggest that he may have originally held a spear. The left arms hangs down at his side with a slight bend at the elbow. Both legs are missing from below the knee. Any muscle definition there may have been has worn away together with all the face details (PAS). |
