Management of archaeological projects

Editors note:

This web document consists of substantial extracts from English Heritage's Management of archaeological publications, colloquially known throughout UK archaeology as MAP2. The document still forms the basis for most field archaeology projects although it is over eight years old at the time of writing. MAP2 is used as the basis for project management both for those funded by central government and an increasing number of those funded by commercial sponsors. In particular, it provides the structure for the West Heslerton project whose Assessment Document comprises what in MAP2 terms are an Assessment Report and Updated Project Design.
