Appendix 1: The digital archive (by Sjoerd van der Linde and Tim Williams)
This article draws upon some of the Merv data sets deposited with the Archaeology Data Service. The main digital data sets are:
- Monuments of Merv photographic archive: a collection of c. 2,000 images of historic standing buildings in the Merv delta.
- Maps and drawings: artwork, maps and figures either created or adapted digitally.
- Merv movie: a short film about work at the site.
- Oral interviews: interviews recorded with local people and members of the project team, discussing values and interpretations of the landscapes and buildings.
- Rotating images: rotating photographic images of some of the monuments and landscapes of Merv.
- Slideshow narratives: slideshows with commentaries (in English), for Great Kyz Kala and Kyz Bibi.
- Teachers handbook and resource/activity sheets: educational resources for Turkmen teachers, in both English and Turkmen.
- Related documents: articles and technical reports.
