Description A cast copper alloy figurine head. The head is solid, but has a hollow compartment behind the chin, where the head would have been attached to the rest of the figurine. The head is incomplete, but the surviving piece survives as one object. It is difficult to say who the figurine represents, as it is worn and corroded. It could be either Mars or Vulcan, but Vulcan seems to be the most likely. Mars figures normally wear a Corinthian helmet, but examples also occasionally wear a rounded cap. The facial features are very much worn and so little detail survives. The metal is a light greyish-green colour (PAS).
