Typology
Flat-based globular vessel with a distinctive thickened rim, with multiple grooves on the upper surface. Often decorated with horizontal bands of combed wavy lines on the upper body.
Fabric and technology
Fine sandy red or yellow fabrics.
Capacity
Apparently produced in three sizes, averaging 6.4l, 14.5l (the most common) and 40.6l.
Date
Later 2nd-3rd century AD.

Probably Normandy, on distributional grounds.

Unknown, but inner surface coated with resin (Formenti in Laubenheimer and Lequoy 1992, 91-2).
Distribution
Normandy, and southern and eastern Britain, as far as Carpow in Scotland (Fitzpatrick 1992)
