Acknowledgements

These drawings are based almost entirely on a modern female goat skeleton acquired by the author from a breeding farm in Saskatchewan, Canada. The only exceptions to this are the mandible, ribs, sternum and unfused radius/ulna which were drawn from Soay sheep bones graciously lent from the comparative collection of the Institute of Archaeology, UCL.

I would like to thank Trish Popkin for editing an earlier version of this article, as well as Judith Winters, Jon Kenny and an anonymous referee for valuable comments and suggestions. All errors are the author's own.
