4. Conclusion

This article does not aim to list all the functions that the stone has in funerary parietal art. Through some precise examples, we want to show here:

  1. that there are relationships between carvings and stone;
  2. that these relationships are varied in nature: there are direct relationships (integration of the stone colour and relief in carved compositions, specific position of signs on the stones) and indirect relationships (similar spatial organisation in architecture);
  3. Lastly, we think that three-dimensional representation is a relevant tool to demonstrate the connections between carvings and stone reliefs. This technique may then be helpful in the further development of that aspect.
