There is great variety among the metal figurines from Roman Britain, including the metals used, the types represented and the sites from which they have been recovered. In order to obtain a better understanding of the figurines themselves, an examination of the production methods and materials used to make them is essential and these aspects are addressed in Sections 2.1 and 2.2.
