5.3.2 Bowls

34. Four sherds of a deep bowl with an out-turned lip with two grooves on the upper surface. The upper part of the wall is decorated with three parallel horizontal grooves, D.200mm.

35. Two sherds of a deep bowl with a faint carination and an up-turned rim. Decorated with two grooves on the exterior of the upper part of the wall, D.140mm.

36. Sherd of a carinated bowl with a plain rim and a horizontal line incised on the exterior of the upper part of the wall. Fabric is similar to the standard except that it has volcanic inclusions suggesting that it may have been imported from south of the River Fiora, D.130mm.

37. Four sherds identical to 36 above but with a slightly higher carination, D.130mm.

38. Sherd of a carinated bowl with two parallel horizontal grooves above the carination. The fabric is the standard, but highly polished and reduced to a light grey similar to an impressed bowl from ORB40.0 (cf. Fig. 4.3.1.1), a bowl excavated at Marsiliana (Minto 1921, 64, 268, Tav. L No.3) and a bowl on display in the Comunal Museum at Manciano. D.120mm.

39. Seven sherds similar to bowl 38 but with the grooves further apart, D.140mm.

40. Two sherds of a carinated bowl with a plain rim and low footring. An ante cocturam graffito ´V´ is on the underside of the base. D.130mm.

41. Four sherds of a carinated bowl with a plain rim similar to 40 above. D.120mm.

42. Two body sherds of a carinated bowl similar to 40 above, but with a horizontal groove above the carination and a group of three horizontal parallel grooves towards the middle of the upper part of the wall. The vessel had a highly polished finish.

43. Sherd of a small carinated bowl decorated with a dotted zig-zag of impressions on the exterior of the upper part of the wall. The vessel had an unpolished finish, D.100mm.
