The remainder of the supporting arabinogalactan is represented by R. Each pentarabinose moeity does not necessarily have two Alpha- and single methoxy- and ketomycolates. Each mycolic acid class consists of several homologues and the methoxy- and ketomycolates also include components with trans-cyclopropane rings and adjacent methyl branches, in addition to the cis-cyclopropane rings which are represented in the figure by triangles.
