Nine bars in this study, 6% of the total, had evidence for a counter but could not be defined as either Type A or Type B retail outlets because there was no clear evidence of a cooking facility. The present state of these properties also prohibits any understanding of their spatial arrangements or of any other possible facilities. Six of the properties have not yet been fully excavated to the 79 AD level. As a consequence, very little about these buildings can be interpreted from the archaeological remains.
