Using FileMaker Pro 5 software, I built a relational database to collect, store and analyse information for each of the 158 properties. The SAP CAD map was converted to an ArcView file onto which I digitised each of the 158 properties of this study. This allowed me to relate the database to the relevant properties on the map so that the result of any query of the database would display spatially on the map of Pompeii. An outline of the methods and procedures used to obtain the mass of archaeological information for each of the 158 properties follows.
