An Ancient Merv Web Blog has been established, with the aim that debate developed through the blog will be archived with the ADS and drawn upon by the project when preparing the Atlas for publication.
The specific aims are to promote:
Discussion and reinterpretation of the archaeology of Merv and Central Asia. It is hoped that comments posted on the site over the coming months will make a direct contribution to the form and content of the Atlas of Islamic Merv.
Debate on the methodologies used to structure and present archaeological information digitally.
Examination of rights management issues and citation of electronic publication (see Appendix 1 and Appendix 2).
