Every post will have its own unique webpage, which will appear in a new window on the web-browser. Posts and comments will be archived on a weekly basis, and individual comments will have an 'Archive Index Date Format', which is YEAR – MONTH – DAY, e.g. 2007-04-01.
The interface of the Ancient Merv Blog (developed by the software programme 'Blogger' in this case) is not sustainable for storage. However, this is also not necessary – we only wish to store the blog posts and the comments for future generations in order to keep a record of the discussions following on and inspired by the Internet Archaeology article and the Atlas of Islamic Merv project. It is therefore our aim to archive the complete blog text only, which can be done through the software function 'site feed'. Every single post and its comments will then be exported as a text-file, and each post will be separated by the code 'ANCIENT MERV BLOG POST'. Backups of the blog will be made on a weekly basis by the Ancient Merv Project – the most recent blogs will be brought forward for archiving by the ADS on a yearly basis. A screenshot of the 'Blogger' interface will be stored separately to provide insight into the way in which users interacted with the authors on the Internet (copyright clearance provided).
